Pitt-Johnstown outscored Carlow University by 29 points in the second half to break open a two-point game and coast to a 99-68 non-conference victory in Tuesday's home-opener in the Sports Center.Â
A.J. Leahey's game-high 22 points led five Mountain Cats who scored in double figures.

Isaac Vescovi's lay-up and a
Rasaun Mosley free-throw put Pitt-Johnstown up 17-9 six minutes into the game, but the Celtics answered with a 13-3 run over the next four minutes to take a 22-20 lead on two John LeGrande free-throws.

The Mountain Cats regained the lead and went in front 31-26 on a
Levi Masua lay-up with 4:27 left in the half, before Jacob St. George's 3-pointer with 31 seconds left cut the Carlow deficit to 37-35 at the half.

However, the Mountain Cats took control to start the second half and never let the Celtics back in it.

After LeGrande's basket to open the half knotted it at 37, Pitt-Johnstown used a 19-7 run, capped by
Josh Wise's lay-up, to take a 12-point advantage at 56-44 with 15:38 to play.

The Mountain Cats pushed it out to 30 on Romani Sebastiani's 3-pointer at 7:26, before Olando King's jumper with just under two minutes remaining gave Pitt-Johnstown its largest lead of the night at 99-66.

Leahey's 22-points, six rebounds, and four assists led Pitt-Johnstown. Masua had 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while
Jake Laravie scored 14 points on 5 of 5 shooting from the floor.Â
Isaac Vescovi finished with 11 points and five rebounds, and Wise rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points. The Mountain Cats also got nine points and seven rebounds from Mosley and nine points off the bench from Sebastiani in the lopsided victory.

Leahey stands in 22
nd-place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,074 points in fifth-place on the all-time 3-point field goals list with 176.

Pitt-Johnstown, which held a large 48-22 advantage in rebounding, shot 54.7% (35-64) from the field, 11-24 from 3-point range, and 18-26 from the free-throw line. Carlow ended the night shooting 40.7% (22-54) from the floor, but just 6-24 from behind the 3-point line. The Celtics were also 18-21 from the free-throw line.

Carlow, which fell to 0-6, was led by Zack Taylor's 17 points. Charlie Scharbo chipped-in 13 points and five rebounds, and St. George had 10 points for the Celtics.

The Mountain Cats open PSAC-play at Bloomsburg on Saturday and at East Stroudsburg on Sunday. Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home games on December 3 and 4 when Kutztown and Mansfield visit the Sports Center for conference doubleheaders with the Lady Cats. The women's games will tip-off at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
