Marissa Erminio had a team-high 10 kills, but it wasn't enough to stop Beka Smith's 16 kills and eight blocks and top-seed Gannon, as the Golden Knights swept the third-seeded Lady Cat volleyball team 27-25, 26-24 and 25-23 to claim the 2016 PSAC Volleyball Tournament Championship. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 24-9.

Gannon opened-up an early three-point lead to start the match, but Pitt-Johnstown came back to go in front 11-9 on a Erminio kill and a Golden Knights' attack error.Â
Kendall Mahony's kill made it 19-16, before Gannon scored the next four to retake the lead on two Smith kills and a Pitt-Johnstown error. The Lady Cats went back in front by one, but Gannon took advantage of two straight Pitt-Johnstown attack errors to take the opening set 27-25.

Two Erminio kills and a pair of
Cambria Wierman service aces helped the Lady Cats jump out to a 5-0 lead in the second set. After Gannon tied it at seven on Smith's kill, Pitt-Johnstown rebuilt the lead to 15-11 on Mahony's kill. The Golden Knights answered again to tie it at 19 and regain the lead 22-21 on another kill by Smith, before going on to a 2-sets-to-none lead with the 26-24 win.

Gannon completed the sweep with a 25-23 win. It was close most of the way until the Golden Knights broke a 12-12 tie and built a 19-14 lead on a Pitt-Johnstown error. The Lady Cats came back to make it 22-21, but Gannon increased its lead to 24-21 and closed out the title on Smith's 16
th kill of the match.

Along with Erminio,
Maura Brehl tallied nine kills, three blocks, and 10 digs, and Wierman had seven kills, two blocks, and 16 digs for Pitt-Johnstown. The Lady Cats also got six kills and two blocks from Mahony.

Allison Mondorff finished with 29 set assists and seven digs.Â
Devan Orr had 17 digs, and
Delaney Roman collected seven digs and five service aces in a losing cause.

Smith had 16 kills and eight blocks for Gannon, which improved to 30-3 on the season. Kelsey Ansec had 12 kills, and Hannah Kren added nine kills and 18 digs for the Golden Knights.

Pitt-Johnstown will now advance to the 2016 NCAA Regional Volleyball Tournament December 1-3 at a site to be determined.
