The Pitt-Johnstown women's volleyball team got 13 kills apiece from
Marissa Erminio and
Maura Brehl to help the Lady Cats avenged last year's loss to Clarion University in the PSAC Tournament Semifinals with a 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 PSAC sweep, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 20-7 overall and 13-2 in the PSAC Central Division.

The Lady Cats started fast and scored 11 straight points off of
Allison Mondorff's serve to climb out to a 12-2 advantage on Brehl's kill. Clarion recovered and got a kill from Olivia Olson to cut to 18-13, before the Golden Eagles made it 23-20 on McKenzie Biggs kills. A Clarion attack error sent it to set point, and
Kendall Mahony's kill gave the Lady Cats the 25-22 win.

In the second set, Clarion opened-up an 8-5 lead on Marissa Robertson's kill, but Pitt-Johnstown answered with a 9-2 run to take a four-point lead of its own. Mahony's kill tied it at nine, and a kill by Erminio closed the run that put the Lady Cats up 14-10. Clarion came back to tied it at 16, but Pitt-Johnstown rebuilt it 22-18, and took the set 25-23 on an
Anna Johns' kill.

Looking to complete the three-set sweep, the Lady Cats ran out to a 12-5 lead on Brehl's service ace, followed by a Clarion attack error. Pitt-Johnstown never let the Golden Eagles get closer than five the rest of the way. Clarion narrowed it to 21-16 on an ace from Shelby Coughenour, but the Lady Cats made match point on another Clarion attack error and closed out the 25-19 win on Erminio's kill.

Erminio tallied 13 kills and five digs, while Brehl had 13 kills, two blocks, and 10 digs to lead the Lady Cats. Mahony finished with 10 kills.

Mondorff had 33 set assists and 11 digs, and
Devan Orr chipped in three assists and a match-high 31 digs. Pitt-Johnstown also got seven digs from
Logan McIntosh and six digs and an ace from
Delaney Roman.

Biggs finished with 11 digs to lead Clarion, which fell to 16-11 overall and 10-5 in the PSAC Southwest Division. In addition, Olson had 10 kills and four blocks, and Lauryn Driscoll added nine kills in a losing cause for the Golden Eagles.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to a PSAC match at Lock Haven on Tuesday, before wrapping up the 2016 regular season with home matches on Friday against Millersville and Saturday against Shippensburg for Senior Day.
