Kendall Mahony collected 15 kills and
Anna Johns added 10 kills to lead the fourth-seeded Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team to a 3-sets-to-1 victory over fifth-seeded California (PA) in Friday's Quarterfinal of the 2016 NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament in Wheeling, W.Va. Pitt-Johnstown, which earned it first ever NCAA Tournament victory, improved to 25-9 and advances to take on the winner No. 1-seeded Wheeling Jesuit-No. 8-Shaw (NC) match in Saturday's Semifinals at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Cats took the opening set 25-19, but California (PA) answered to knot it with a 25-21 win in the second set. However, Pitt-Johnstown finished strong and secured it place in the Semifinals with 25-17 and 25-19 wins.

California (PA) held the lead most of the early going of the first set and went up 9-6 on Lois Van Schaik's kill. Pitt-Johnstown tied at 10 on a
Cambria Wierman kill, before using a 7-1 run to take the lead. Johns' kill gave the Lady Cats their first lead of the set and
Marissa Erminio closed the run with a kill to make it 18-14. Pitt-Johnstown increased it to 22-17 and finished out the 25-19 win on kills by Mahony and Erminio.

The Vulcans opened-up a 7-4 edge to begin the second set on back-to-back Pitt-Johnstown errors, but the Lady Cats came back to go up 12-11. California (PA) answered to rebuild its lead to 18-13 on Danielle Hayes' kill and a Lady Cat ball handling error. Pitt-Johnstown was able to get the deficit back down to three at 21-18 on a pair of Wierman kills, but California (PA) got a block from Searirra Barrett and Van Schaik even the match with the 25-21 victory.

In the third set, it was the Lady Cats who started fast. Pitt-Johnstown got a kill from Mahony to take a four-point lead, and increased it 13-5 on Erminio's kill, followed by a California (PA) error. Pitt-Johnstown continued to pour it on and pushed it into double figures at 22-12 on Mahony's service ace and wrapped up the 25-17 win Hayes' service error.

Looking to close it out, the Lady Cats jumped out to 7-2 lead on Mahony's kill to start the fourth set. California (PA) clawed back to within one on four occasions with the last coming at 18-17. However, Pitt-Johnstown quickly extended it lead back to five at 23-17 on
Maura Brehl's kill. The Lady Cats then secured the four set win on another Vulcans' attack error.

Mahony finished 15 kills, four blocks, and four service aces, while Johns had 10 kills to lead Pitt-Johnstown. The Lady Cats also got seven kills and 16 digs from Brehl, nine kills and six digs from Erminio, and six kills and nine digs from Wierman.

Allison Mondorff led the way for the Lady Cats with 38 assists and 13 digs. In addition,
Devan Orr chipped-in 22 digs, and
Delaney Roman had seven digs in the win.

Hayes had 15 kills and Barrett had 10 kills for the Vulcans, whose season came to an end with a 22-10 overall record.
