Cambria Wierman had 14 kills and
Maura Brehl added 12 kills and seven digs to lead the Lady Cats volleyball team to its third straight victory by defeating the University of Charleston (WV) in four sets in Saturday's final round of the 2016 Notre Dame/Ursuline College Tournament. Pitt-Johnstown advanced its record to 6-4.

Pitt-Johnstown took the first two sets 25-13 and 25-23, before the Golden Eagles answered with a 25-16 victor. However, the Lady Cats came right back and closed out the match with a 25-16 victory of their own.

Along with Wierman and Brehl,
Anna Johns had eight kills, and
Kendall Mahony collected six kills, a pair of service aces and a block solo.Â
Marissa Erminio finished with five kills for Pit-Johnstown.

Allison Mondorff had a match-high 34 assists. Mondorff also added six digs, two aces and two blocks, while
Devan Orr had with 19 digs and four assists. The Lady Cats also got nine digs from
Logan McIntosh and nine digs and three aces from
Delaney Roman.

Carly Granger's match-high 17 kills paced Charleston. Janeese VerVelde chipped-in five kills, and Jordan Wittekind finished with four kills for the Golden Eagles, who fell to 4-7 on the season.

The Lady Cats start PSAC-play at Slippery Rock on Friday and at Edinboro on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2016 home debut with Homecoming Weekend conference matches against Mercyhurst on September 30 at 7 p.m. and Gannon on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
