Marissa Erminio finished with a match-high 16 kills, and
Kendall Mahony had 13 kills and Pitt-Johnstown held off West Liberty (WV) University with a 15-8 win in the fifth set to secure a non-conference victory, Tuesday night in West Liberty, W.Va. The lady Cats raised their record to 8-5.

The Lady Cats won the first and third sets 25-22 and 25-17, but West Liberty took the second set, 25-20, before forcing a fifth set with a 25-21 victory.

In the fifth set, Pitt-Johnstown ran out to an 11-5 lead on three straight Hilltopper errors. A kill from
Maura Brehl, followed by a
Devan Orr service error increased it to 13-6. The Lady Cats then closed out the 15-8, victory on another kill by Brehl and a West Liberty attack error.

Anna Johns had 12 kills, two block solos and two block assists, and Brehl collected 11 kills, three blocks and seven digs for Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Cambria Wierman also had seven kills and 15 digs.

The Lady Cats also got 48 set assists and six digs from
Allison Mondorff, a match-high 29 digs from Orr, and 11 digs from
Delaney Roman.

The Hilltoppers, who slipped to 11-9 on the season, were led by Caitlin Clarke's 12 kills and 12 digs, and Amanda Leonard's nine kills, 21 set assists, and 18 digs.

Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2016 home debut with Homecoming Weekend conference matches against Mercyhurst on Friday at 7 p.m. and Gannon on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
