Dale Clancy led Pitt-Johnstown on the offensive onslaught with a game-high 26 points and 11 assists, his first double-double of the season, as the Mountain Cats defeated California University (Pa.) 101-70 Wednesday night at the Sports Center in Johnstown, Pa. Isaac Vescovi also added 23 points and seven rebounds.

Pitt-Johnstown, who advances to 10-6 overall and 5-5 in PSAC play, started the game with a 9-0 run after two and a half minutes, guided by a layup and a three-pointer from Rasaun Mosley. The Mountain Cats were able to stretch their lead to 16 points, 22-6, after a steal from A.J. Leahey turned into a layup from Vescovi off of an assist from Clancy with 13:52 to go in the half.

Leahey's 16 points, four three-pointers and seven rebounds add to his highly-ranked career totals. He now has 1,355 career points, which now ranks him in 11th place on the Mountain Cat all-time career scoring list and is 18 points away from Chris Rhames (1995-98) for 10th place.

Leahey also now has 606 rebounds and 213 three-pointers made in his career. His rebounding totals rank him ninth place on the all-time rebounding list, three rebounds away from Quinton Davis (2005-09) for eighth place. He remains in fourth place on the all-time three-point field goals made list, trailing Bill Luther (2010-14) by 50 three-pointers.

The Mountain Cats' advantage did not fall under 13 points for the rest of the half and were able to eclipse the 50-point mark with 2:08 left before halftime when Mosley got sixth and seventh points of the game on a layup. UPJ closed the half with a 50-36 edge.

Pitt-Johnstown started the second half the same they started the first half, with an unanswered nine-point sprit, highlighted by a three-point shot and a layup from Vescovi. Leahey made a layup of his own to cap off the run at 17:19 to put them ahead, 59-36.

The Mountain Cats' lead remained a significant margin, not falling under 18 points until California's Cordell Smith hit a three-point hot on an assist from Nick Miller to cut their deficit to 79-62 with 7:56 left in the game. A layup from Jay Tucker 50 seconds later got the Vulcans within 15 points, but that was the closest they got to tying the score for the rest of the game.

Pitt-Johnstown made 14 three-pointers, outshooting the Vulcans from three-point range (66.7%-26.3%) and outshot them from the field overall (58.2%-45.9%).
The Vulcans, who dropped to 4-12 overall and 2-8 in conference competition, were led by Tony Richardson with 18 points and seven rebounds as well as Jay Tucker, who recorded a double-double (16 points and 10 rebounds).

The Mountain Cats are to embark on a two-game road trip against PSAC West Divisional opponents, beginning Jan. 14 at 3 p.m. against Mercyhurst University and ending Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. against Slippery Rock University. Both games are to be the second game of doubleheaders with the women's team.
