Box Score
Dale Clancy's double-double of 19 points and 10 was enough, as Seton Hill University ran out to a 13-point first half lead and went on to hold on for a 73-68 PSAC Western Division victory over the Mountain Cats, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown had its three-game winning streak snapped and slipped to 12-7 overall and 7-6 in the PSAC West.
Â
The Griffins held the lead for nearly the entire first half. Spencer Casson's basket in the paint gave Seton Hill an eight-point advantage, before back-to-back buckets by Noah Davis pushed it out to 27-14 at 8:51.
Â
Pitt-Johnstown answered quickly with 2-pointers by
Josh Wise and
A.J. Leahey and a pair of 3-pointers from Clancy to cut the deficit to one less than two minutes later.
Â
Wise hit one of two from the line to knot it at 27 with 6:40 left in the half, before another 3-pointer from Clancy with :07 remaining gave the Mountain Cats their first lead since the 16:25 mark.
Â
However, Nathan Davis' 3-pointer from half court as time expired put the Griffins back in front, 42-40 at the half.
Â
It stayed close the entire second half. Leahey's lay-up with 15:49 gave Pitt-Johnstown a slim 46-44 lead, but that was the last time the Mountain Cats would hold the lead.
Â
Fernando Salsamendi's bucket on Seton Hill's next possession tied it and sparked a 14-2 Griffins run that rebuild the lead to 58-48 midway through the half on Casson's dunk.
Â
The Mountain Cats responded and outscored the Griffins 18-9 to pull to within one at 67-66 on
Levi Masua's lay-up, with 1:56 on the clock, but Nathan Davis hit a 3-pointer that extended it back out to four.
Â
Seton Hill went on the make 3-of4 free-throws in the final :17 to seal the five-point victory.

Rasaun Mosley also had seven rebounds for Pitt-Johnstown.
