Pitt-Johnstown ran out to an early double-digit lead and built a 22-point halftime advantage, then held on for an 86-77 PSAC Western Division victory at Edinboro University on Friday.Â
A.J. Leahey had 22 points and nine Rebounds, and
Dale Clancy added 20 points for the Mountain Cats, who improved to 9-5 overall and evened its record in conference-play at 4-4.

The Mountain Cats started fast and hit five of their first six shots to jump out to a 12-point lead four minutes into the game. Clancy scored eight of his 15 first half points, and
Rasaun Mosley connected on a jumper to put Pitt-Johnstown up 15-3.

Edinboro cut it to 22-16 on back-to-back baskets from Mikael Anderson two minutes later, but the Mountain Cats broke it open with a 16-2 run over the next 7:20. Leahey's 3-pointer quickly got the lead back into double figures, and
Josh Wise's lay-up at 6:31 made it 31-18. Pitt-Johnstown then got five straight points from Clancy and a bucket from
Levi Masua to close the run and extend the lead to 38-18 with 3:26 left in the half.

Masua's free-throws with under a minute remaining gave the Mountain cats a 46-24 halftime advantage.

After Clancy scored to increase the lead to 24 to begin the second half. The Fighting Scots outscored Pitt-Johnstown 20-11 to narrow the gap to 61-46 on Jaymon Mason's jumper at the 12-minute mark, before
Isaac Vescovi's 3-pointer and jumper rebuilt it to 20 two minutes later.

Edinboro kept battling and cut it to 78-72 on Michael Sims, Jr.'s 3-pointer with 1:03 left, but Leahey, Clancy, and Vescovi made eight straight free-throws down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Leahey moved into 12
th-place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,305 points and into 10-th-place on the all-time rebounding list with 599. He also stands in fourth-place on the all-time 3-point field goals list with 202.

Leahey's 22 points paced four Mountain Cats who scored in double figures. Clancy had 20 points, six assists, and four steals, while Vescovi finished with 18 points and six assists. Masua had eight points off of the bench, while Mosley and Laravie chipped-in eight and six points, respectively.

Pitt-Johnstown shot 52.5% (32-61) from the field, 6-13 from 3-point range, and 16-21 from the free-throw line. The Mountain cats held the Fighting Scots to 43.5% (30-69) shooting from the floor and 9-23 from behind the 3-point line. Edinboro was also 8-14 from the charity stripe.

Anderson's game-high 25 points and nine rebounds led Edinboro. Mason had 17 points and seven assists, and Mike Bech tallied 15 points for the Fighting Scots, who fell to 4-8 overall and 2-8 in the PSAC-West.

The Mountain Cats return home to host PSAC Western Division doubleheaders with the Lady Cats against Gannon on Monday and California (PA) on Wednesday. The women will tip off both doubleheaders at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center.
