Isaac Vescovi's 19 points led three Mountain Cat double figure scorers, but Cheyney University outscored Pitt-Johnstown, 6-2, in the final 1:22 to break a tie game and lift the Wolves to a 66-62 PSAC Crossover victory, Saturday afternoon in Cheyney. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC Western Division.
Five quick point from Kyle Parker gave Cheyney a six-point lead just over three minutes into the game, before Vescovi's 3-pointer at 13:32 got the Mountain Cats back to within two.
Cheyney answered with a 12-2 run over the next six minutes to rebuild the lead to 26-14 on back-to-back Jeff Lewis 3-pointers and a pair of free-throws from Derrick Biney.

The Wolves still held a 12-point lead with 4:30 remaining in the half, but the Mountain Cats finish strong and outscored Cheyney 11-2 the rest of the way to pull to within three at 32-29 on two
Drew Magestro free-throws and a pair of baskets by Josh wise.
A lay-up by Vescovi and a dunk by
Levi Masua to open the second half gave Pitt-Johnstown a slim one-point lead.
Pitt-Johnstown increased it to 45-40 on Wise's dunk at 9:30, but the Wolves got a 3-pointer from Justen Cliff to retake the lead 49-48, before pushing back out to 10 at 59-49 with 3:59 to play.
The Mountain Cats answered again. This time to tie it at 60 with an 11-1 run on Masua's basket at 1:22.

However, Amir Boney gave the lead right back to Cheyney and the Wolves went on to hold off the Mountain Cats.
Vescovi had 19 points on 8-13 shooting to move to within 22 points of becoming Pitt-Johnstown's 29
th 1,000-point scorer. Wise had 15 points and eight rebounds, while
Dale Clancy added 10 points and five rebounds to round out the Pitt-Johnstown double figure scorers. The Mountain cats also got eight points from Magestro and six points and seven rebounds from Masua.
The Mountain Cats were held to 40.7% (24-59) shooting, including just 4-18 from behind the 3-point line. Pitt-Johnstown was also 10-13 from the free-throw line. Cheyney ended the day shooting 42.9% (24-56) from the field, 8-21 from 3-point range, and 10-20 from the charity stripe.
Cliff's game-high 22 points and Lewis' double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds led the Wolves, who improved to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC Eastern Division.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC games at Millersville on Sunday and to Lock Haven next Saturday. The Mountain Cats will host their next game as part of a PSAC doubleheader with the women's team on January 3 when Indiana (PA) visits the Sports Center.
