Isaac Vescovi was one of four Pitt-Johnstown players to score 10 points or more Wednesday night against Indiana University (Pa.), leading the team with 13 points, but the Crimson Hawks offensive persistence proved to be too much for the Mountain Cats.

Indiana handed Pitt-Johnstown an 84-63 defeat at the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center in Johnstown in PSAC West Division play.

The lead switched four times in the game's opening minutes before the Crimson Hawks went on a eight-point run to earn themselves a 15-8 advantage at the 13:26 first half mark after a three-point play by Brandon Spain.

Indiana's lead eventually grew to nine points after a layup from Devon Cottrell at 11:39 to make the score 21-12. Two minutes later, Jacobo Diaz hit a three-pointer to give his team in an 11-point lead, 26-15 with 9:38 until halftime. The Crimson Hawks would not give up the lead the rest of the game.

Indiana closed out the half with two straight three-point field goals from Blake Danielak to send the Crimson Hawks into halftime with a 43-28 edge. A three-pointer from Dale Clancy with 16:40 remaining in the game trimmed the Mountain Cats' deficit to 15-points, 49-34, but that was the closest Pitt-Johnstown was to tying the score the rest of the game.

The Mountain Cats fell to 14-10 overall and 9-9 in PSAC competition with the loss, but two Mountain Cats remain climbing closer to the top of the school's statistical lists.
A.J. Leahey produced 10 points, seven rebounds and a three-point field goal Wednesday night. With those stats he now has 1,456 points, 664 rebounds and 228 three-pointers in his career. Those numbers rank him eighth place on the Mountain Cat all-time scoring list, fifth on the all-time rebounding list and fourth on the all-time three-point field goals made list.

Clancy tallied four assists along with his 11 points on the night, which now gives him 352 career assists. This ranks him ninth on the all-time assist list.

Indiana outscored the Mountain Cats 35-31 the rest of the game to secure a 21-point road win. Pitt-Johnstown had more opportunities from the free-throw line than the Crimson Hawks (19 UPJ attempts to IUP's nine), but Indiana had more opportunities from the field and made the most of it by making almost half of their shots, 30 of 61 attempts.

Ayron Hutton had a game-high 14 points for the Crimson Hawks as they advanced to 22-2 overall, 17-1 in conference play with the win.

The Mountain Cats are to next host Mercyhurst University Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. before traveling to California University (Pa.) Feb. 15 for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. Both games are to finish PSAC West Division doubleheaders with the Lady Cats.
