The Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team will play its second of five straight home games on Wednesday when West Virginia Wesleyan College visits the Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Pitt-Johnstown, under
Head Coach Mike Drahos (7th year), comes in at 3-1 after a 68-56 victory over Wheeling (WV) University in Saturday's home-opener.
Alli McGrath scored a game-high 22 points and had 11 rebounds, while
Gabrielle Smith scored 16 points, and
Olivia Fasick collected 11 points and eight rebounds to lead the Mountain Cats. Pitt-Johnstown also split a pair of games to tip-off the season at the Shepherd (WV) Conference Crossover on November 8 and 9.
Smith enters tonight's game ranked 26
th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-time Scoring List with 1,163 points. She also has 472 career rebounds, two shy of 31
st-place on the all-time rebounding list.
Head Coach Vicky Bullett's (4th year) West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats improved to 2-1 following Saturday's 67-64 home in over Shippensburg University.
Brittany Stawovy scored a game-high 19 points,
Courtney Wilfong scored 16 points, and
Nicole Gilyard added 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the Bobcats.
In the last meeting between the teams on Nov. 14, 2018, in Buckhannon, W.Va. Smith had game-highs of 25 points and 10 rebounds and
McGrath added 24 points to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a 70-63 victory.
Victoria Jackson (20 points),
Tyra Hughes (16 points), and
Amira Layeni (10 points) all scored in double figures for the Bobcats.
Pitt-Johnstown continues a five-game homestand and opens PSAC Crossover-play with doubleheaders with the men's team against East Stroudsburg on Saturday and Kutztown on Sunday. Both doubleheaders will tip-off at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
