Pitt-Johnstown, NCAA Division II's No.1-ranked team, gave Big 10 power Rutgers everything it could handle at Saturday's Rutgers Quad Match in Piscataway, NJ.  The Mountain Cats tied it at nine with Devin Austin's win at 165 lbs., but the Scarlet Knights were able to win the final four bouts to secure a 22-9 victory.
 
It see-sawed back-and-forth over the first six matches.  Pitt-Johnstown fell behind 3-0 to start with Malcolm Robinson's 3-1 sudden victory over No. 7 Brendan Howard at 125 lbs., but No. 1-ranked Tyler Warner answered to tie it with a 9-4 win over Sammy Alvarez at 133 lbs.
 
A 6-2 win by JoJo Aragona over Jacob Ealy at 141 lbs. gave the lead back to the Scarlet Knights, before two-time defending national champion Chris Eddins knotted it at six with a 5-0 win over Nick Santos in the 149-lb. bout.
 
Another decision win by Michael Van Brill over Nate Smith at 157 lbs. put Rutgers back on top 9-3, but Austin, ranked second in the country at 165 lbs., held off Brett Donner, 4-3, to tie it at nine.
 
However, the Scarlet Knights followed with four consecutive victories to pull away.  At 174 lbs., Division I No. 16-ranked Joseph Grello defeated Division II No. 4-ranked Brock Biddle, 9-3, and Billy Janzer shutout Division II No. 3 Connor Craig, 5-0, at 184 lbs. to take a 15-6 advantage.
 
Rutgers closed it out with a 11-1 major decision by Jordan Pagano over Mike Geyer at 197 lbs., and a 4-0 win by Division I #22-ranked Christian Colucci over Allan Beattie at 285 lbs.
