The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will Celebrate Senior Day with a PSAC doubleheader against Slippery Rock, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. The women will tip-off at 1 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.


Head Coach Mike Drahos and the Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball program will recognize this year's seniors,
Tori Moreland and
Laurel O'Barto.
Gabrielle Smith, who needed three points to reach 1,000 for her career, scored 14 points and had nine rebounds to become Pitt-Johnstown's 38
th 1,000-point scorer, Wednesday night at Seton Hill. However, the Griffins pulled away in the second half for a 74-54 PSAC win. Pitt-Johnstown, which is still alive for a PSAC Tournament berth, slipped to 12-14 overall and 8-11 in the conference. Along with Smith,
Alli McGrath had 14 points, Moreland scored nine points, and
Nicole Olkosky grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Smith currently stands in 37
th-place on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List with 1,011 points. Smith is 24 points shy of tying
Deb Deaner (1975-79) for 36
th place on the scoring list.
Nationally, Smith ranks 25
th in scoring (19.2 ppg.), second in free-throws attempted (249) and third in free-throws made (198), while
Olkosky is 56
th in blocked shots (41) and
Alli McGrath is 48
th in field goals made (164).
Head Coach Bobby McGraw's (5
th season) Slippery Rock squad, 10-15 overall and 8-11 in the PSAC, has lost its last two games, including an 88-77 home loss to Edinboro on Wednesday.
Ciara Patterson scored 20 points,
Brooke Hinderliter had 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, and
Madison Johnson added 15 points and nine rebounds. The Rock also suffered a 92-78 loss at Clarion on Saturday.
Nationally for The Rock, Hinderliter ranks 25
th in field goals made and 46
th in scoring, and Patterson is 49
th in 3-point field goals made.
On January 23, Pitt-Johnstown traveled to Slippery Rock and came away with a 79-75 victory behind Smith's game-high 23 points. The Mountain Cats also got 14 points from McGrath, 13 points and 10 rebounds from Olkosky, and 11 points from
Moreland. Slippery Rock's Patterson tallied 21 points to lead four Rock players who scored in double figures. Hinderliter and Johnson each had 15 points, while Morgan Henderson collected 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Pitt-Johnstown will close out the 2018-19 regular season with a PSAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Mercyhurst on Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center. If the Mountain Cats earn a spot in the PSAC Tournament, they will open play on March 4.

The Mountain Cats, 14-12 overall and 9-10 on the PSAC, got 23 points and six rebounds from
Josh Wise, but Seton Hill battled back from a second half deficit to secure a 71-68 conference victory over Pitt-Johnstown, Wednesday night in Greensburg.
John Paul Kromka, the current PSAC West Freshman of the Week, had a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds, and
Fred Mulbah collected 14 points and five assists for the Mountain Cats, who already secured a spot in the PSAC Post-Season Tournament.
With his 23 points against the Griffins, Wise climbed two spots into 23
rd-place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,079 career points. Wise is now 31 points shy of
Paul Byer (2002-05) for 22
nd-place on the list.
Nationally for Pitt-Johnstown,
Kromka is fifth in field goal percentage (63.2%), sixth in total blocks (63), and eighth in blocked shots per game (2.4 bpg.), while
Mulbah is 63
rd in assists per game (4.9 apg.).
Slippery Rock, under first-year
Head Coach Ian Grady, made it four straight wins and comes in at 19-3 overall and 16-3 in the PSAC follow Wednesday's 81-79 home win over Edinboro.
Nolen Gerald scored 25 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists to lead five Rock players who scored in double figures. Slippery Rock also got 18 points from
Jared Armstrong, and 10 points and nine rebounds from
Vinny Lasley.
Saturday marks the 54
th meeting between Pitt-Johnstown and Slippery Rock. Pitt-Johnstown leads the series, 32-21, but Slippery Rock has won the last two, including an 87-70 win in Slippery Rock on January 23.
Kromka scored a game-high 27 points, while Wise had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, and
Mulbah chipped-in 12 points for the Mountain Cats.
Armstrong's 22 points, and
Micah Till's 20 points and game-high 16 rebounds paced the Rock.
The Mountain Cats close out the regular with a PSAC doubleheader with the women's team against Mercyhurst Wednesday night in the Sports Center, before opening the PSAC Tournament on March 4.
