The fourth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown won the first four bouts, including falls from
Jacob Ealy (141 lbs.) and
Chris Eddins (149 lbs.) to build a 19-0 lead on its way to a 34-9 PSAC victory at Seton Hill, Saturday night. The win moved Head Coach
Pat Pecora to within one of tying former Oregon State Coach Dale Thomas' 46-year-old all-time career wins record. The Mountain Cats improved to 18-3 on the year and 4-0 in the PSAC.
Pecora now has 615 career victories, one shy of tying the all-time wins record among coaches in all divisions. Thomas took over as the all-time wins leader in 1974 and finished his career with 616 victories.
The Mountain Cats took control early. At 125 lbs., third-ranked
Brendan Howard got things going with a 13-2 major decision over Frank Bonura, and
Matt Siszka took

the lead with a late second period take down on his way to making it 7-0 with a 7-3 decision over Vincent Distefanis at 133 lbs.
Back-to-back falls from Ealy at 141 lbs. and No.1-ranked Eddins at 149 lbs. increased the lead to 19-0. Ealy pinned Tyler Kenney at 6:24, and Eddins, who earned his 97
th career win, followed with a fall at 4:08 over Joel Cawoski.
Seton Hill got on the scoreboard at 157 lbs. when Austin Shaw pinned
Jacob Burgette with just 17 seconds remaining to narrow to Griffins' deficit to 19-6 at the midway point.

However, Pitt-Johnstown never let it get any closer. At 165 lbs., fourth-ranked
Devin Austin dealt Lucas Ewing a 14-2 major decision loss, before sixth-ranked
Brock Biddle shut out Brandon Matthews, 8-0, to build the lead to 27-6 and seal the win.
A third straight major decision, this time a 14-3 win by fourth-ranked
Connor Craig at 184 lbs. made it 31-6.
The Griffins, who slipped to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the PSAC, got a 6-3 decision by No. 12 Billy Bowlen at 197 lbs., before Pitt-Johnstown's
Allan Beattie scored a 3-1 upset decision over No. 9 Jake Beistel at 285 lbs. to set the final at 34-9.
Coach Pecora will have a chance to tie the all-time wins record in Pitt-Johnstown's next outing at Shippensburg on Friday. The Mountain Cats will then celebrate Alumni Weekend with a home Match against No. 11 Mercyhurst on February 7 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
