Former Pitt-Johnstown NCAA Division II National Champion wrestler
Cody Law made his professional MMA debut in fine fashion at Thursday evening's Bellator 250. Law won by submission less than three minutes into the fight.
Law, who won a Division II National Championship at 157 lbs. at Pitt-Johnstown in 2018, defeated Orlando "One Shot" Ortega with a chokehold at the Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Law took Ortega to the mat in the featherweight bout at 146 lbs. and immediately went to a chokehold. After hooking Ortega's leg, Law got Ortega to tap out giving to get the submission victory.
Law, who went 5-0-0 as an amateur, trained with former Mountain Cat wrestling All-American and Pitt-Johnstown Athletics Hall of Famer Isaac Greeley of Mat Factory. He was accompanied in his corner by American Top Team's Mike Brown, a World Extreme Cage Champion and UFC veteran, and Anderson Franca, Law's kickboxing coach.
