
Pitt-Johnstown junior designated hitter
Isaiah Kearns, the current PSAC West Baseball Athlete of the Week, was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week on Tuesday.
Kearns hit .583 (7-12) with three doubles, a home run, seven RBI, and four runs scored In the Mountain Cats' four-game weekend sweep over Fairmont State (WV) University.
He collected a pair of doubles and two RBI in Pitt-Johnstown's 3-1 and 9-3 wins over the Fighting Falcons on Saturday, before going 5-for-6 with five RBI in Sunday's 8-5 and 9-2 sweep. Kearns also doubled, homered and scored three runs.
On the mound, Kearns pitched six innings in Sunday's opener and held Fairmont State to a run on two hits. He fanned eight and walked two.
East Stroudsburg's Cam Voss was named the NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week. In eight innings last week, Voss did not allow a run and struck out 16 opponent hitters.
Kearns and Voss will now be placed on the national ballot for voting for national hitter and pitcher of the week.
