Mountain Cats Suffer Senior Day Setback to PSAC Foe Mercyhurst

Sidney Warden scored three goals and added a pair of assists to help Mercyhurst deal Pitt-Johnstown an 8-1, Senior Day PSAC Western Division loss, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  Andrew Jeffrey scored the goal for Pitt-Johnstown, which fell to 1-10-1 overall and 0-6-0 in the PSAC West.
 
At halftime, Head Coach Eric Kinsey and the Mountain Cat soccer program recognized this year's seniors…Mario Abadir, Michael Armenio, Dylan Corob, Andrew Jeffrey, and Chase Kuhn.
 
Nic Munch netted a pair of goals, and Warden scored his first of three goals to help the Lakers build a 5-0 halftime advantage.
 
Warden then tacked on two more second half goals to get the lead to 8-0, before Jeffrey scored for the Mountain Cats with just over two minutes remaining to set the final at 8-1.
 
PJ Derksen played the first half in goal for Pitt-Johnstown and allowed five goals and made one save, while Devin Reichenbach and Sage Parsley shared time in the second half and combined to make two saves and give up three goals.
 
Mercyhurst's Jonathan Gomes saw 10 Mountain Cat shots, made two saves, and allowed one goal.
 
The Lakers improved to 8-3-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the PSAC West.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC match against nationally-ranked Gannon in the 2021 home finale on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., before playing its final three conference matches on the road.
