Pitt-Johnstown baseball team with kick-off the 2021 season with a four-game, non-conference series against West Liberty (WV) University, Saturday and Sunday at Point Stadium.  The Mountain Cats and Hilltoppers are scheduled to start each doubleheader at 1 p.m.
 
Head Coach Todd Williams' (24
th season) Mountain Cats were 11-6 when the 2020 season was stopped due to COVID-19 and posted a 23-21 record and an 11-15 mark in the PSAC West in 2019.  Pitt-Johnstown welcomes back three senior starting pitchers in 
Joel Colledge, 
Dylan Heid, and 
Brady Walker.  The Mountain Cats also return five players who hit .300 or better a year ago, led by junior outfielder 
Dylan Broderick (.356, 3 2B, 1 3B, 7 RBI) and junior third baseman 
Lennox Pugh (.352, 3 2B, 1 HR, 13 RBI).
 
Eighth-year 
Head Coach Eric Burkle's West Liberty Hilltoppers opened the 2021 season on Tuesday and Wednesday against Malone (OH) University and suffered 6-3, 2-1, and 13-2 losses.
 
Since 2007, Pitt-Johnstown and West Liberty have met 27 times with the Mountain Cats winning 15 of those meetings.  The teams split a four-game series at Point Stadium last year.  On March 7, the Hilltoppers earned 2-0 and 5-4 wins, before Pitt-Johnstown came back with 5-0 and 7-1 victories on March 8.
 
Following this weekend's games, Pitt-Johnstown will host a non-conference doubleheader against Fairmont State (WV) University next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium, before finishing the four-game series in Fairmont, W.Va. next Sunday.
