The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team will close out its four-game PSAC Western Division baseball series against Mercyhurst University, Saturday afternoon at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.  Game times are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.

Prior to Friday's games at Mercyhurst, Coach Todd Williams' Mountain Cats were 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC West after opening conference play last weekend by taking three-of-four games from Clarion.  Pitt-Johnstown swept the Golden Eagles 11-5 behind Dylan Heid's 10 strikeouts and 9-8 on Friday.  On Saturday, Asher Corl hit a three-run homer and drove in five in a 13-2 win.  Clarion then won game two, 9-8 in nine innings.  Freshman designated hitter Alex Glumac finished the series hitting .579 (11-19) with two doubles, five RBI, and 7 runs.

Mercyhurst, under 22nd-year Coach Joe Spano, was 11-5 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC West after splitting four games with Gannon last weekend.  Last Friday, the Lakers suffered 3-0 and 6-5 losses, but rebounded with 4-2 and 7-2 wins on Saturday.

Pitt-Johnstown and Mercyhurst have met 28 times since the 2012 season, and the Lakers hold a 23-5 advantage in the series.  On March 23, 2019, the teams split two games at Point Stadium.  Mercyhurst took the opener, 5-3, and the Mountain Cats came back with a 6-3 win in the nightcap.  The next day in Erie, the Lakers earned 5-4 and 7-3 victories.

Following this weekend's series, Pitt-Johnstown will host Indiana (PA) on Friday at 1 p.m. at Sargent's Stadium at the Point to begin a four-game home-and-home PSAC Western Division series.
