Mountain Cats to Open PSAC Series Against IUP at Home on Friday

The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team will open a four-game, home-and home PSAC Western Division series against Indiana (PA), Friday afternoon starting at 1:00 at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.
 
The Mountain Cats, under Coach Todd Williams' are coming off of a four-game split with PSAC West foe Mercyhurst.  Dylan Heid earned his third PSAC West Pitcher of the Week Award after holding Mercyhurst to one unearned run on three hits in Friday's 2-1 win to open the series in Erie.  Heid also struck out 10.  The Lakers took last Friday's nightcap, 4-1.  On Saturday in Johnstown, Dylan Broderick and Tyler Smith each had two RBI in a 6-4 win in game one, before Mercyhurst got a 13-3 win to split the series.
 
After starting the season with a 5-1 win over Malone (OH) on March 7, fifth-year Coach Anthony Rebyanski's Indiana (PA) Crimson Hawks have lost their last 15 games and come in at 1-15 overall and 0-8 in the PSAC West.  IUP suffered 11-3 and 14-4 losses to open a PSAC series at California (PA) on Friday, before the Vulcans finished the series sweep with 11-1 and 10-4 wins in Indiana on Saturday.
 
Since 2014 Pitt-Johnstown leads the series 13-11-1. In 2019 the teams played all four games in Johnstown, and the Mountain Cats won the first three games, 5-2, 4-3, and 6-4.  The Crimson Hawks took game four of the series, 3-2.

SCHEDULE NOTE: Pitt-Johnstown's non-conference games against Shippensburg on April 13 and April 20 are CANCELED.
