For the first time in several decades, Pitt-Johnstown hosted a men's and women's track and field meet and the Mountain Cat men came away with a strong showing.Â
Hunter Lindsay placed in three field events, including winning the Discus and Hammer Throw, and
Tyler Spaid placed in two events, including winning the 400-Meter Hurdles, at Saturday's 2021 Pitt-Johnstown Last Chance Meet at Windber Stadium.
Along with Pitt-Johnstown, California (PA), Carlow, Clarion, Edinboro, Point Park, and Slippery Rock competed in Saturday's Last Chance Meet.
Lindsay won the Discus at 32.39 Meters and the Hammer Throw at 43.90 Meters, and was the runner-up in the Javelin at 49.10 Meters.
Along with Lindsay, four other Pitt-Johnstown athletes placed in the Discus, including
Ryan Clark (3rd-33.11 Meters),
Cole Weist (5th-31.30 Meters),
Cyle Martindale (6th-30.86 Meters), and
Ryan Karlheim (7th-24.04 Meters), while Martindale (31.99 Meters) and
Hunter Wagner (27.95 Meters) joined Lindsay in the Hammer Throw with third and four-place finishes, respectively.

Along with placing in the Discus, Weist also third in the Javelin at 45.29 Meters.
In the Shot Put, Martindale was the runner-up at 10.50 Meters, Clark was third (9.81 Meters), and Wagner was fourth (9.58 Meters).
Chris Colligan (1.85 Meters) and Shane Felix (1.70 Meters) second and fourth, respectively in the High Jump,
Clay Engle was the Runner-up in the Triple Jump at 13.00 Meters and fourth in the Long Jump at 5.89 Meters, and Karlheim placed third in the Pole Vault at 3.25 Meters.
Pitt-Johnstown also performed well in the track events, led Spaid's first-place finish in the 400-Meter Hurdles with a time of 57.61 and fifth-place finish in the 110-Meter Hurdles at 17.03.
Ken Azzarello (1:55.89) placed third and
Luke Cimaksky finished seventh in the 800-Meter Run.
Logan Williams was sixth in the 200-Meter Dash (23.28) and seventh in the 100-Meter Dash (11.76), an
Daniel Heller placed seventh in the 200-Meter Dash (23.63).
Pitt-Johnstown's 4x400-Meter Relay Team ofÂ
Robert Bell, Cimaksky,
David Soltesz, and
Sean Heh placed second at 3:32.71.
Pitt-Johnstown will close out the 2021 season with the PSAC Championships from May 6-8 at Shippensburg University.
