Ealy_Jacob.jpgThe 13th-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers hit the road on Friday and put their undefeated record on the line in a key PSAC match at 11th-ranked and undefeated Kutztown.  In a back-and-forth match, Kutztown was able to pick up wins in the final three bouts to erase a one-point deficit and outlast the Mountain Cats, 22-14.

Jacob Ealy won by technical fall for Pitt-Johnstown, which slipped to 10-1 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC.

The Golden Bears started fast and opened-up a 7-0 lead after the first two bouts.  At 125 lbs., Matt Wilde held off Matt Siszka, 5-2, and fourth-ranked Collin Wickramaratna scored late points to secure a 13-5 major decision over Mason Myers at 133 lbs.

Pitt-Johnstown answered with 2-0 decision with a second period escape and a third period ride out from Caleb Morris at 141 lbs., before sixth-ranked Ealy (149 lbs.) dealt Michael Cusick a 19-4 technical fall loss at 6:18 to give Pitt-Johnstown its first lead of the night at 8-7.

Kutztown quickly regained the lead when Kibwe McNair upset 11th-ranked Nate Smith with a fall at 1:50, but eighth-ranked Dillon Keane won a 6-2 decision over AJ Bencivenga at 165 lbs. and three-time All-American and fourth-ranked Brock Biddle scored a 7-1 win over Ethan Baney at 174 lbs. to put the Mountain Cats back on top, 14-13.

However, the Golden Bears closed it out with three straight wins.  Kutztown picked up decision victories at 184 and 197 lbs., before Pitt-Johnstown's Oggie Atwood, the PSAC Wrestler of the Week, battled top-ranked Andrew Dunn, Jr. all seven minutes, before suffering a 6-3 setback that set the final at 22-14.

With the win, Kutztown improved to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC.

Pitt-Johnstown returns home to celebrate Senior Night with a PSAC home match against Millersville on Friday, February 4 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before closing out the 2021022 dual meet season with conference matches at No. 6 Gannon on Feb. 11 and at No, 19 on Feb. 12.
