Mike Drahos and the Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team, fresh off of their third straight appearance in the conference tournament and first berth in the tournament quarterfinals, are picked to finish sixth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division, when the conference office released this year preseason rankings on Thursday. Voted for the preseason poll was done the league's coaches.
In the Western Division, California (PA) received six first-place votes and is picked to win the Division, while Gannon received three first-place votes. Kutztown earned eight of the nine first-place votes and was picked to win the PSAC Eastern Division.
The Mountain Cats return all five starters and 12 letter-winners from a year ago, including three players who averaged in double figures in scoring (
Ashley Norling-10.8 ppg., 5.6 rpg.,
Peyton Alazaus-10.4 ppg., and
Olivia Fasick-10.2 ppg.), and
Makalyn Clapper, the team's defensive leader, who also averaged 9.7 points per game.
