Volleyball to Celebrate Senior Weekend, Close Out 2022 Season at Home Against Mercyhurst and Edinboro

Leitner_Abi.jpgThe Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team will host a PSAC West match against Mercyhurst on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before celebrating Senior Day against Edinboro in Saturday's 2022 season finale at 2 p.m.  Pitt-Johnstown will recognize Abi Leitner, this year's lone senior, before tipping off Saturday's match against the Fighting Scots.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, under Interim Coach Justin Haupt, enters the season's final weekend at 8-20 overall and 1-13 in the PSAC West.  The Mountain Cats are coming off of a three-set loss at Indiana (PA) last Friday.  Lualis Alvarado led Pitt-Johnstown with eight kills, while Abi Leitner had five kills against the Crimson Hawks.
 
Head Coach Ryan Patton's (19th year) Mercyhurst Lakers are 3-20 overall and 1-13 in the PSAC West after suffering losses to Slippery Rock and California (PA) last weekend.  Paige Miller had 17 kills against the Rock, and Kylie Schnars collected 12 kills in Saturday's loss to the Vulcans.
 
In the last meeting between the two teams, Mercyhurst earned a 3-1 victory in Erie on October 8.  Mallory Pinske and Reagan Morris each had nine kills for the Mountain Cats, while Schnars collected a match-high 18 kills to lead the Lakers.
 
Edinboro, under 17th-year Head Coach Missy Soboleski, was 19-7 overall and 9-5 in the PSAC West ahead of Friday's conference match at Clarion.  Last Friday Bella Burrelli had 14 kills and Natalie Pallone added 13 kills in a 3-1 win over California (PA).  Burrelli the added 17 kills and Erica Sharp had 14 kills in last Saturday's victory over Seton Hill.
 
On Oct. 7, the Fighting Scots secured a 3-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown in Edinboro behind nine kills from Pallone, and eight kills from Alicia Eldredge.  The Mountain Cats were led by Mallory Pinske and Leitner's eight kills each.
