After suffering a tough, 6-5 loss in eight innings in Sunday's first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Salem (WV), Pitt-Johnstown battled back to tie it in the top of the seventh, and
Dylan Broderick's pinch-hit grand slam with two outs proved to be all the Mountain Cats would need in a 9-5 victory. Pitt-Johnstown is now 10-6-1.
In the opener, Salem battled back from a three-run deficit, then used Trey Hissam's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give the Tigers a 6-5 walk-off victory.

Mario Disso's base hit plated Turcovski to make it 3-0.
The Tigers loaded the bases off of Mountain Cat starter
Ben Briggs and answered with four in the bottom of the frame. Nathan Kuhn's single up the middle and a Pitt-Johnstown error cleared the bases to tie it at three. Brett Ehr then delivered an RBI single to make it 4-3.

Disso's two-run double down the left field line in the Pitt-Johnstown sixth gave the led back to the Mountain Cats, but Salem quickly knotted it at five on Kuhn's sacrifice fly off of Pitt-Johnstown reliever
Seth Shuey.
It stayed that way until the bottom of the eighth. Alex Harper, Kuhn, and Chase Tucker were all hit by
Antonio Caporossi pitches to load the bases with one out ahead of Hissam's walk-off RBI base hit to right center that gave Salem the walk-off win.
Disso went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, and Turcovski was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI for Pitt-Johnstown.
Chase Vargo added two hits for the Mountain Cats.
Caporossi took the loss and slipped to 0-1 after allowing one run on two hits in 1.2 innings. Briggs started and gave up four runs on five hits, while striking out six and walking one over the first five innings.

In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown used Broderick's seventh-inning grand slam to compete a comeback and lift the Mountain Cats to the 9-5 win.
Salem took an early lead with a run in the first, but Pitt-Johnstown came right back to tie it on
Josh Reynolds' solo homer to left in the top of the second.
Single runs in each of the second and third innings put the Tigers in front, 3-1.
The Mountain Cats responded with three runs in the fourth to take the lead. Reynolds tripled home
Joey Maun and Turcovski, and Jake Anssell's base hit up the middle scored Reynolds.
Easy Goita's solo homer to lead off the Salem half of the fifth knotted it at four, and Goita's RBI double in the sixth gave the lead back to the Tigers.
Pitt-Johnstown clawed back to tie it at five on Disso's RBI double in the seventh. The Mountain Cats went on to load the bases and Broderick came through with a two-out, pinch-hit grand slam to give Pitt-Johnstown a 9-5 lead and the eventual victory.
Along with Broderick's grand slam, Reynolds was 2-for-4 with a homer, a triple, and three RBI, and Turcovski went 2-for-3 with a run for the Mountain Cats.
Grayson Hall earned the win and improved to 1-0 in relief of starter
Wil Fetrow. Hall limited the Tigers to one run on two hits in 1.2 innings. Fetrow pitched the first four-plus innings and gave up four runs on eight hits. Fetrow struck out three and didn't allow a walk.
With the split, Salem is now 5-18.
Pitt-Johnstown will begin PSAC West-play with a doubleheader at Seton Hill on Friday, before wrapping-up the four-game series with a pair of games against the Griffins at Point Stadium on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
