The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team will open a key four-game PSAC Western Division series against Mercyhurst with a pair of games at Point Stadium on Friday. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Head Coach Todd Williams' Mountain Cats, 13-12-1 overall and 2-6 in the PSAC West, is coming off of a 4-2 non-conference victory over Bloomsburg on Tuesday.Â
Lennox Pugh collected three hits and drove in a pair, while five Mountain Cat pitchers held the Huskies to just two runs on six hits

Seth Coleman tossed the final two innings to earn his first collegiate save. Pitt-Johnstown also split a four-game PSAC series with Clarion last weekend.

Mercyhurst, under 23

Head Coach Joe Spano, is 15-6 overall and 4-4 in conference-play. The Lakers used two hits, including a three-run homer and four RBI, from
Jack Elliott in an 8-5 non-conference victory over Laker Erie (OH) on Tuesday. In PSAC-play last weekend, Mercyhurst dropped three-of-four games to Gannon.

Pitt-Johnstown and Mercyhurst split last year's four-game PSAC series. On April 2 in Erie,
Dylan Heid tossed a two-hitter and Pugh drove in two in a 2- Pitt-Johnstown win to open the series. The Lakers took the nightcap, 4-1. The next day in Johnstown, erased an early three-run deficit to take the opener, 6-4, before Mercyhurst secured the split with a 13-3 win in game two.

Pitt-Johnstown will close out the series with a pair of games against the Lakers in Erie on Saturday, before hosting a non-conference game against Shippensburg on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Point Stadium.
