The Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team will host a PSAC Western Division match against Mercyhurst on Wednesday, starting a 1 p.m. at Richland High School. As a result of unplayable field conditions at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field due to the recent heavy rain, has been moved off campus.
Pitt-Johnstown, under fifth-year
Head Coach Vito Addalli, enters the match at 0-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference after opening PSAC West-play with a 2-2 draw at Edinboro on Saturday.
Emily Esser's early goal put the Mountain Cats on top, and
MacKenzie Stephens' goal with six minutes to play knotted it at two.
Head Coach Jon Arlet's (5
th-year) Mercyhurst Lakers come in at 2-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the PSAC West following a 3-1 home win over Edinboro on Wednesday and a 1-0 victory at Clarion behind
Emily Mijares' goal on Saturday.
Last season, the Lakers took two tight matches from the Mountain Cats. On September 22, Mercyhurst earned a 2-0 win in Erie, before securing a 2-1 victory on October 23 in Johnstown.
Esser's penalty kick gave Pitt-Johnstown the lead, but the Lakers answered with goals from
Safia Paraiso and
Mijares.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC West match against California (PA) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before visiting Clarion for a conference match next Wednesday.
