Haupt Named PSAC West Volleyball Coach of the Year; Three Earn Spots on All-Conference Team

PSAC_PittJohnstown_FullClr_LightBG.jpgPitt-Johnstown Head Coach Justin Haupt was selected the 2023 PSAC Western Division Volleyball Coach of the Year, while three athletes earned spots on All-PSAC West Teams when the conference office released this season's honors on Thursday.
 
Along with Haupt's honor, junior outside hitter Lualis Alvarado was named First-Team All-PSAC West, and junior setter Adiamar Beaz and sophomore middle hitter Mallory Pinske secured spots on the second team.
 
Haupt, who began his second stint as head coach of the Mountain Cat volleyball team in 2023, has led Pitt-Johnstown to a 19-11 overall record and a and a 9-7 mark against PSAC West opponents.  His squad earned a spot in the PSAC Tournament by finishing fourth in the division, before falling in the conference quarterfinals at top-seeded Gannon on Tuesday.  Pitt-Johnstown is also ranked among the top teams in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region and looks to make its fifth appearance in the Regional Tournament when this year's brackets are released Monday evening.
 
Alvarado, LualisBeaz, AdiamarPinske, MalloryAlvarado, a First-Team All-PSAC West selection from San Juan, Puerto Rico, leads the team in kills (340) and kills per set (3.33), and is second in service aces (34) and third in digs (249) and digs per set (2.44).  She ranks sixth in the conference in both kills per set and points per set and seventh in the PSAC in total kills.
 
Beaz and Pinske each were named to the second team.
 
Beaz, also from San Juan, Puerto Rico, leads the PSAC and ranks seventh in the nation in total aces (62) and aces per set (.61).  She is also second in the conference and 33rd nationally in assists per set (10.26) and third in the conference and 32nd nationally in total assists (1047).
 
Pinske, a native of Rock Falls, Ill., leads the team in blocks (76) and blocks per set (.75).  Pinske also ranks second on the team in kills (234) and kills per set (2.29) and third in aces (32).  Her .313 hitting percentage is fourth in the country.
