Cassidy Crawford scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record her second straight double-double, but Jenadia Jordan's 3-pointer with just :32 left gave the Bald Eagles the lead for good, as Lock Haven slipped by Pitt-Johnstown, 59-57, in Friday's PSAC Crossover opener in Lock Haven. The Mountain Cats are now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in conference-play.
Along with Crawford's double-double, Pitt-Johnstown got eight points and a game-high six assists from
Olivia Fasick, a career-best eight points and five rebounds from
Camille Dominick, and eight points from
Hayden Taylor.
Riley Childress netted her career-high of six points, and
Molly Wagoner tied Crawford for game-high in rebounds with 11.
Led by strong defense, including seven rebounds from Wagner in the first seven minutes and 58% shooting, Pitt-Johnstown jumped out to a 12-4 lead on a
Peyton Alazaus basket and
Kylah Franklin's layup and free-throw. The Bald Eagles countered with a 9-4 run to close out to period to narrow it to 16-13 on Brooke Lawyer's 3-pointer as time expired.
Lock Haven extended the run 14-4 to go in front, 18-16, to begin the second quarter, before Childress scored six of the Mountain Cats next eight points to help Pitt-Johnstown rebuild its lead to six. The Bald Eagles kept it close and

got a jumper from Alana Robinson with time winding down that gave Lock Haven a slim, 27-26, advantage at the break.
After
Hayden Taylor's bucket a minute into the second half put the Mountain Cats back in front, neither team held a lead larger than three, and Dominick's late jumper gave Pitt-Johnstown a 39-37 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Dominick's conventional 3-point play quickly got the Mountain Cats lead to five, and Crawford knocked down a 3-pointer with 5:37 remaining to make it a six-point game. However, Lock Haven clawed back. Jordan's 3-pointer with :32 to go gave the lead back to the Bald Eagles, and Lock Haven went on to hit four consecutive free-throws in the final :16 to hold off Pitt-Johnstown.
The Mountain Cats shot 44.0% (22-50) from the field, while limiting Lock Haven to just 32.3% (20-62) shooting, but the Bald Eagles connected on 15 of their 18 free-throws. Pitt-Johnstown, which held a 39-36 advantage on the glass, was 9-13 from the line.
Robinson scored 16 points and grabbed seven boards, while Jordan and Rhlyn Rouse had a dozen points apiece for Lock Haven, which won its fourth straight game and improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC.
Pitt-Johnstown concludes the opening week of conference-crossover play at Mansfield on Saturday, before visiting Wheeling (WV) for a non-conference game on Dec. 15. The Mountain Cats return home to the Sports Center to host PSAC Crossover doubleheaders with the men's team against Bloomsburg on Dec. 18 and Eat Stroudsburg on Dec. 19.
