


The Pitt-Johnstown men's track and field team overcame the weather and opened its 2023 outdoor schedule by securing six spots in the PSAC Outdoor Track Championship at the High Point Bill Webb combined Events/Davidson Memorial Invitational in High Point, NC.
Despite rain of Friday an wind on Saturday, the Mountain came away with a strong showing.
The Pitt-Johnstown 4x100 Relay team of
Hunter Johnson,
Cristian Thornton,
Michael Ifidon, and
Andrew Jeffrey led the way with a fourth-place finish at 43.67, while
Noah Lee was sixth in the 800-Meter Run (1:58.62), and
Luke Cimakasky was ninth in the 1,500-Meter Run (4:04.45).
In the 100-Meter Dash, Ifidon placed eighth and qualifier for the PSAC Outdoor Meet at 10.89 with a 4.3 mph wind and Jeffrey was 16th and qualified for the PSAC Meet at 11.00 with a 5.0 mph wind.



Jeffrey placed ninth (22.64), Ifidon was 13th (22.73), and Thornton was 15th (22.87) in the 200-Meter Dash, while Thornton qualified for the PSAC Meet and placed 13th (50.06) in the 400-Meter Run. In addition,
Logan Williams was 18th (51.32) and
Blake Lauper finished 21st (51.92) in the in the 400.
Marcello Legister's 15th-place finish in a -3.2 mph wind in the 110-Meter Hurdles wrapped-up a strong showing in the track events.
Three more Mountain Cats qualified for the PSAC Outdoor Championships in the field events.Â
Clay Engle placed fourth in the Triple Jump (13.39 M),
Bryce Batche was fourth in the Discus (42.82 M), and
Cole Weist was ninth in the Javelin (53.73 M) to earn their spots in the PSAC Meet.
Pitt-Johnstown also got a sixth-place showing from Luca Antanucci in the Pole Vault (4.07 M). Along with his fourth-place finish ih the Triple Jump, Engle placed 13th in the Long Jump (6.2 M) and
Hunter Lindsay was 15th in the Javelin (49.19).
