The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team will host a non-conference doubleheader against Bloomsburg, Tuesday afternoon at Johnstown's Point Stadium. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Pitt-Johnstown, under
Coach Todd Williams', comes in at 12-18 overall after taking 3-out-of-4 PSAC Western Division games from Clarion over the weekend. On Friday, the Mountain Cats earned 8-3 and 7-4 wins at Point Stadium, before
Seth Shuey's complete-game, nine-strikeout shutout in Saturday's opener in Clarion led Pitt-Johnstown to a 1-0 win. The Golden Eagles took the nightcap, 4-2.
Prior to Monday's PSAC East make-up doubleheader against West Cheater,
Head Coach Mike Collins (18
th-year) and the Bloomsburg Huskies were 13-11. The Huskies opened the weekend series against the Golden Rams with a 16-5 win behind homeruns from
Brady Gibble,
Wyatt Metzger, and
Brandon Ernst.
Pitt-Johnstown and Bloomsburg have met seven times since the 2014 season and the Mountain Cats hold a 5-2 advantage. Pitt-Johnstown has won the last two meetings, including a 17-11 win in Bloomsburg on May 3, 2022.
Dylan Broderick went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, and five RBI to lead the Mountain Cats, while
Ben Newbert had three hits, including a homer run, a double, and three RBI for the Huskies.
Pitt-Johnstown will open a four-game PSAC Western Division series against Mercyhurst on Friday in Erie, before wrapping up the series with a doubleheader at Point Stadium on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
