Men's Track Relay Teams Break School Records at WVU Mountaineer Showcase

Cristian Thornton and the Pitt-Johnstown 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams set Pitt-Johnstown records in another strong performance for the Mountain Cat men's track and field team at Friday and Saturday's West Virginia Mountaineer Showcase.

In Saturday's relays, the 4x400 team made up of Andrew Jeffrey, Blake Lauper, Noah Lee, and Thornton finished first and set a Mountain Cat record with a time of 3:20.33, while the 4x100 team of Donovan Stanley-Reeves, Jeffrey, Thornton, and Michael Ifidon placed third with a Pitt-Johnstown record time of 42.57.

Pitt-Johnstown opened on Friday.  In the track events, Noah Lee placed fifth in the 800-meter and qualified for the PSAC Outdoor Championship with a person best and Pitt-Johnstown third best time of 1:57.35, while three Mountain Cats placed in the 1500-meter run.  Luke Cimakasky finished fifth at 4:00.49, while Ben Brassart and Michael Hanik each posted personal bests and finished 11th ad 12th, respectively at 4:19.91 and 4:33. 32.  Charlie Levander's 56:69 in the 400-meter hurdles was Piit-Johnsotwn second best time ever and gave him a fifth-place finish, qualified him for the PSAC Championships.

Hunter Johnson placed eighth in the Long Jump (6.20 meters), Jaylen cooper was seventh in the Shot Put (13.06 meters), and Hunter Lindsay was sixth in the Hammer Throw at 31.01 meters.  Lindsay also placed third in the javelin and qualified for the PSAC Championships at 53.51 meters, and Cole Weist was fourth in the Javelin at 49.37.

On Saturday, Thornton continued his impressive weekend with a second-place finish and a PSAC qualifying time of 22.12 in the 200-meter dash and a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter run at 50.26.  Jeffrey (22.43) and Ifidon (22.84) were were fifth and eighth in the 200-meter, and Lauper was fifth in the 400-meter with a personal best time of 50.78.

Ifidon also placed third in the 100-meter dash at 11.16, and Marcello Legister finished ninth in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.74.
