Despite a 45-minute stoppage because of high winds and lightning, the Pitt-Johnstown men's track and field team finished with 16 place-winners to pair with six individuals who qualified for the PSAC Outdoor Championships at this past weekend's Slippery Rock Dave Labor Invitational.
Freshman Hunter Johnson was the highlight of the meet for the Mountain Cats after he earned first place and qualified for the PSAC Meet by bounding 6.94 meters in the long jump. The jump also broke the school record for the event.Â
Marcello Legister, Michael Ifidon, Cristian Thornton and Andrew Jeffrey shattered a school record and placed fourth in the 4x100 meters with a time of 42.63 seconds. Ifidon finished seventh and qualified in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.93 seconds.
Meanwhile in the other field events, Chris Colligan took home first place in the high jump, getting up 1.93 meters to qualify for the PSAC Meet. Noah Ser also qualified and tied for third place with a jump of 1.88 meters.
Clay Engle was the runner-up in the triple jump and qualified after jumping 13.45 meters. Bryce Batche took home sixth place and qualified after 41.79 meters in discus.
