Head Coach Tyler Reinhart and the 19
th-ranked Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat wrestling team will travel to Indianapolis for Saturday and Sunday's 45
th annual Midwest Classic.
Wresting is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. EST at both the Ruth Lilly Center and Nicoson Hall and continue until there are 12 wrestlers remaining each of the 10 brackets. Sunday's action will also begin at 9:30 a.m.
Each of the 44 participating teams is permitted to enter one wrestler in each of the 10 weight classes.
One of Division II's most grueling regular season tournaments, the 2024 Midwest Classic features 21 of the top-25 nationally-ranked teams.
The Mountain Cats have five nationally-ranked wrestlers scheduled to wrestle, including 2024 NCAA All-Americans No. 5
Isaiah Vance (285, lbs.), No. 6
Dakoda Rodgers (197 lbs.), No. 9
Trevon Gray (125 lbs.) and 2024 National Qualifier No. 18
Mason Myers (141 lbs.).
Also scheduled to compete for Pitt-Johnstown are
Tyson Cook (133 lbs.),
Chad Ozias (149 lbs.), 2024 National Qualifier
Cooper Warshel (157 lbs.),
Gavyn Beck (165 lbs.),
Tony Salopek (174 lbs.), and
Noah Gnibus (184 lbs.).
Last season, Vance claimed the title at 285 lbs., while
Jacob Ealy was the runner-up at 149 lbs., Rodgers finished third, and Gray placed eighth to help Pitt-Johnstown earn a tie for sixth-place with Wisconsin-Parkside in the 48-team field.
