Mountain Cats upended in visit to Millersville

Millersville, Pa.

Cugini, VinniePitt-Johnstown could not dig out of a first half hole as its five-game winning streak came to a close with a 96-72 setback to perennial power Millersville in PSAC crossover matchup on Saturday afternoon at Pucillo Gymnasium.

The Mountain Cats dropped to 7-4 (3-1 PSAC).

Sophomore Vinnie Cugini paced the Mountain Cats with a team-high 20 points on 8-of-11 from the field. Baden Forup racked up 16 points and six rebounds. Sean Dillon had six points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Dillon connected on a jumper to cut Pitt-Johnstown's deficit to 16-13 less than seven minutes into the game. But an 18-0 run from Millersville quickly changed the tide and gave the Marauders a 34-13 advantage with less than seven minutes to go in the first half.

Cugini scored five points over the final 90 seconds of the half, but the Mountain Cats trailed 54-28 at the break.

Pitt-Johnstown shot much better over the final 20 minutes, going 18-for-33 (54.5%), but the deficit was too much to overcome at that point.
