Head Coach Todd Williams' Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats opened PSAC West-play at Slippery Rock on Friday and will make their 2024 home debuts against the Rock on Saturday afternoon at Point Stadium.
Prior to Friday's doubleheader, Pitt-Johnstown, 8-9 overall, split a four-game series at Kutztown last weekend.

Justin Turcovski each drove in two in a 7-2 win in game one on Friday, before suffering a 13-1 setback. On Saturday, the Mountain Cats scored six runs in the top of the eighth to take game one, 11-8. The Golden Bears got the split with a 5-2 win in the nightcap.
Slippery Rock, under 39

Coach Jeff Messer, was 8-3 before yesterday's games against the Mountain Cats. Slippery Rock took two-of-three from Saint Anselm College last weekend. The Rock won the opener behind
Gage Gillott's complete-game shutout, 5-0, and lost game two, before taking the series with another 5-0 victory on Sunday.
Since the 2005 season, Pitt-Johnstown and Slippery Rock are 22-22 against each other. Last year, the Mountain Cats took three-of-four from the Rock to close out the season. On May 4 at Point Stadium, Pitt-Johnstown swept Slippery Rock, 2-0 and 4-3. The teams split a pair of eight-inning games in Slippery Rock the next day. The Rock took the opener, 2-1, before the Mountain Cats scored six runs in the top of the eighth to secure a 6-0 victory in the nightcap.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a non-conference game against Lock Haven on Tuesday at 2 p.m., then begin a four-game PSAC West series with a doubleheader against Gannon, Friday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium.
