Johnson Highlights Men's Track and Field at Stan Romanoski Open

Hunter Johnson enjoyed a first place finish in the long jump event to highlight the Pitt-Johnstown men's track and field team's visit to the West Virginia Stan Romanoski Open on Friday and Saturday.

The senior's jump of 6.58 meters bested 32 other competitors and was .16 meters better than runner-up finisher and IUP freshman Evan Loro. Johnson also checked in at seventh place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.23 seconds.

Bridgor Blankenbicker earned a fifth place finish in the pole vault event with a distance of 4.25 meters, which qualified him for the PSAC Championships. Chad Weist rounded out the specialists after finishing 13th with a javelin toss of 39.56 meters.

Charlie Levander checked in at seventh place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.03. Meanwhile, Marcello Legister took seventh in the 200-meter run after finishing in 23.59 seconds.

Cristian Thornton narrowly beat out Legister to claim sixth place in the 200-meter run with a time of 23.56 seconds. He also enjoyed an eighth place mark in the 400-meter run at 52.15 seconds.

Nicholas Kelly had a 12th-place rank in the 1500-meter steeplechase with a time of 5:07.15 minutes and broke the school record in the process.

The Mountain Cats will continue their outdoor season when they make the trek to Pittsburgh for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
