Michel Ifidon once again proved why he is among the top sprinters in the PSAC Conference when he garnered a pair of top three finishes at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Pittsburgh.
The junior athlete enjoyed a runner-up finish in the 200-meter run with a time of 22.22 seconds. He followed that up by placing third in the 100-meter dash, completing the event in 10.84 seconds. Both of those times were more than good enough to qualify him for the PSAC Outdoor Championships that take place early next month.
Junior sprinter Cristian Thornton also clinched a spot in the PSAC Championships after earning a third-place mark in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.48 seconds. He wasn't far behind Ifidon in the 200-meter dash, either, after checking in with a time of 22.56 seconds to collect seventh-place honors.
Richland High School graduate Charlie Levander captured an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (58.36 seconds). Levander, Damian Blum, Noah Lee and Blake Lauper took home sixth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:33.13).
Pitt-Johnstown will have more than a week to prepare before competing in the Messiah Multi event on April 11 and 12 held at Messiah College.
