4x100-Meter Relay Team Earns All-PSAC Honors to Lead Men at Conference Championships

The Pitt-Johnstown 4x100-Meter Relay team secured All-Conference honors  by placing third and Hunter Johnson placed in two events this weekend's 2024 PSAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg's Seth Grove Stadium.
 
As a team, the Mountain Cats collected 18.33 points to finish in ninth-place ahead of conference foes West Chester, Bloomsburg, and Edinboro.
 
The hosts racked up 246.83 points to claim the team title, while Slippery Rock (148.33), East Stroudsburg (139.5), Kutztown (78.0 points), and Lock Haven (60.5) made up the top-five in the 12-team field.
 
Hunter Johnson, Marcello Legister, Cristian Thornton, and Michael Ifidon recorded the third best time in school history to place third and lock up All-PSAC honors at 41.91.
 
The Pitt-Johnstown 4x400-Meter Relay Team of Thornton, Blake Lauper, Damian Blum and Noah Lee set a new school record and finished fifth at 3:19.18.
 
Individually, Aiden Lechleitner's 9:38.97 time in the 3000-Meter Steeplechase was second best on the Mountain Cats list behind All-American and hall of famer Steve Parker and gave him a fifth-place, while Luke Cimakasky placed eighth at 9:42.21.  His time in the Steeplechase was third best in Pitt-Johnstown history.
 
Pitt-Johnstown also had solid showings in the jumps.  Johnson, also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team, finished sixth in the Long Jump at 6.82 meter, and Noah Ser finished in a three-way tie for eighth-place in the High Jump at 1.90 meters.  Isaiah Dyer placed 16th in the Triple Jump (12.59).
 
In addition, Bridger Blankenbicker (4.16 meters) and John Yahner (4.01 meters) finished 12th and 13th, respectively in the Pole Vault.
 
Thornton was 11th in the 400-meter preliminaries, and Ifidon was 13th in the 100-meter preliminaries and 18th in the 200-meter preliminaries.
