Junior Nathaniel Thomas shattered the school record in the 500-meter run with a time of 71.91 seconds to highlight Pitt-Johnstown's fourth-place mark in the Muskingum University's Muskie Meet on Saturday.
Thomas' record-breaking performance of 1:11.91 seconds earned him a fifth place finish out of a field of 26 competitors and helped the Mountain Cats rack up 69.5 points that was good enough for a top four finish in the 15-team field.
Ohio Northern easily won the team title with 199 points.
The team of Aiden Lechleitner, Charlie Levander, Noah Lee and Ethan Barrick captured first place in the 4000-meter distance medley relay, picking up 10 points in the process.
Lechleitner also took home second place in the mile run with a time of 4:30.48. Barrick finished 14th in the same event.
Michael Ifidon continued his stellar career with a third place mark in the 200-meter dash, checking in at 22.88 seconds. Cristian Thornton finished just seven-tenths of a second behind him to claim fourth place at 22.95 seconds. Nicholas Legnine wasn't far behind that in sixth place at 23.05 seconds.
Legnine was even better in the 60-meter dash, taking a third place mark with a performance of 7.03 seconds. Ifidon was four-tenths of a second behind in fourth place at 7.07 seconds. Hunter Johnson placed fifth at 7.12 seconds, and Thornton tied for seventh at 7.23 seconds.
Thornton capped off an impressive day with a seventh place mark in the 400-meter dash (51.82 seconds) Lee came in 10th in the event (53.23 seconds).
Isaiah Dyer headlined the field events with a runner-up mark in the triple jump (12.84 meters). Meanwhile, Johnson claimed third with 6.71 meters in the long jump. Bridger Blankenbicker finished eighth in the pole vault (3.87 meters) and John Yahner took 10th (3.87 meters).
The Mountain Cats will travel to Selinsgrove for the Susquehanna University Riverhawk Showdown on Friday, Feb. 7.
