The Pitt-Johnstown softball team will close out the 2025 regular season with a PSAC Western Division doubleheader against Clarion, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Softball Field. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Pitt-Johnstown was 10-28 overall and 7-17 in the PSAC West under
Head Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora prior to Friday's scheduled games at Indiana (PA). The Mountain Cats are coming off a conference split with Seton Hill on Tuesday.
Isabella DePalma had two hits and three RBI, and
Julia Mooney drove in two in the Mountain Cats' 10-5 win in the opener. The Griffins came back with a 17-4 victory in the nightcap.
Third-year
Head Coach Marissa Pullo and the Clarion Golden Eagles were 11-25 overall and 7-13 before scheduled PSAC games against California (PA) on Thursday and Gannon on Friday. Clarion suffered 3-1 and 4-1 losses at Slippery Rock on April 18.
Delanie Davison had a hit and an RBI in game one, and
Kathryn O'Horo singled and drove in a run in game two.
Since first meeting in Pitt-Johnstown's inaugural home games on March 21, 2015, the Mountain Cats hold a 19-15 advantage in the series. The Golden Eagles have swept the last two doubleheaders, including 7-4 and 7-6 wins in Clarion on April 17.
Mia Smith and
Hannah Gnibus each had two hits, but Clarion earned a 7-4 win in game one, before the Golden Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 7-6 win in the nightcap.
Meghan McDonough collected two hits and drove in a run, and
Gianna Surra and
Krista Brunson had two hits apiece for Pitt-Johnstown.
