Golfers Sit Third After Day One of 2025 Pitt-Johnstown Sunnehanna Collegiate

Hansberry, GriffinSmith, LucasCurrent PSAC golfer of the Week Griffin Hansberry shot a 1-under over his first 36 holds and sits in six-way tied for eighth place after day one to help the Mountain Cat golfers climb into third-place in the 16-team field of the 2025 Pitt-Johnstown Sunnehanna Collegiate at Sunnehanna Country Club.
 
Teammate Lucas Smith shot three-under and is in a tie for third-place to pace Pitt-Johnstown's "B" Team.
 
Glenville State's (WV) Hector Arriaga leads the field at six-under par, but Gannon (-3, -1) holds the team lead at four under, nine shots better than Adelphi's five-over (+7, -2) and 10 shots ahead of the third-place Mountain Cats, who ended the opening day at +10 (+1, +5).
 
Hansberry fired a 2-under in the first round and followed that up with a one-over in round two to tie for third.  Pitt-Johnstown's Eli Ropietski is tied for 18th at 1-over (-1, +2), while Giovanni Vezza (+2, +1) and Grayden Laird (+2, +1) are tied for 31st-place, and Mauricio Hernandez is tied for 49th at 5-0ver (+2, +3).
 
Smith, who shot -2 and -1, paces the Mountain Cats' "B" Team at 3-under par, and David Razinskas is tied for 31st at +3 (+1, +2).  Pitt-Johnstown's Parker Hilchey stands in a tie for 8th at +11 (+5, +6), and Mark Yan (+11, +5) and Tyler Mocello (+7, +9) are in a tie for 93rd-place at 16-over par.
 
Golfing as an individual, Dom Cerilli is 96th at +21 (+14, +7).
 
Following Gannon, Adelphi, and Pitt-Johnstown, Bluefield State (WV) +7) is fourth, Charleston (WV), Indiana (PA), West Chester, and Wheeling are in a four-way tie for fifth at +9 and Glenville State and Ohio Dominican round out the top-10 at 10-over.
 
The 2025 Sunnehanna Collegiate, a preview for the 2026 NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Region Championships hosted by Pitt-Johnstown in May at Sunnehanna Country Club, will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
