The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats, ranked fifth in the NWCA Dual Meet Rankings, will host a PSAC match against Seton Hill on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center and welcome back alumni, families and friends as part of Winterfest Weekend.
Prior to Thursday evening's match against Saint Vincent College, second-year
Head Coach Tyler Reinhart and the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats improved to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC after a dominating, 31-11, victory at Kutztown last Friday. The Mountain Cats, ranked fifth in the Open Mat Dual Meet rankings, won seven of the 10 bouts, including No. 18
Trent Hoover's 10-3 decision over #3 Bailey Gimbor at 165 lbs. and No. 15
th-ranked
Ty Morrison's 6-0 shutout of top-ranked Dalton Gimbor at 174 lbs. Morrison's efforts earned his Co-PSAC Wrestler of the Week honors.
Isaiah Vance (285 lbs.) enters the match with 99 career victories. With one more win, Vance will become Pitt-Johnstown's 29
th wrestler to reach 100 career victories.
Pitt-Johnstown is led by a pair of two-time NCAA All-Americans in
Trevon Gray at 125 lbs. and
Vance at 285 lbs. The Mountain Cats also boast three other returning national qualifiers in
Chad Ozias (141 lbs.),
Cooper Warshel (157 lbs.), and No. 15
Noah Gnibus (184 lbs.).
Seton Hill, under third-year
Head Coach Vince DeAugustine, comes in at 5-1overall and 1-0 in the PSAC. The Griffins are coming off of a 31-9 PSAC victory over Shippensburg and a 28-15 win over Wheeling (WV) at Tuesday's Seton Hill Duals.
The Griffins are led by 2025 NCAA National Qualifier and #11-ranked
Mike Zacur at 157 lbs., 2024 NCAA National Qualifier
Kane Kettering at 174 lbs., and No. 19
Ty Linsenbigler at 149 lbs.
The Mountain Cats have won all 16 meetings between the two programs, including a last year's 39-6 victory in Greensburg on Jan. 24.
Gnibus (184 lbs.) and
Michael Mazurek (285 lbs.) both won by fall for Pitt-Johnstown
Pitt-Johnstown will host PSAC matches against Millersville on Jan. 31 at noon in the Sports Center and East Stroudsburg on Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.
