ERIE, Pa. — Pitt-Johnstown could not keep pace with the potent offense of No. 5 Gannon in a 116-70 loss on Saturday afternoon at Highmark Events Center.
The Mountain Cats fell to 11-15 (5-13 PSAC) and were eliminated from PSAC Tournament contention.
Baden Forup notched his 13th straight and 19th double-double of the season with game-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds. The junior forward finished 10 of 17 from the floor and went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Vinnie Cugini knocked in two 3-pointers and contributed 17 points and three rebounds. Cedric Rault had eight points, and Adam Bilinsky pitched in seven.
Gannon scored the first seven points before Pitt-Johnstown answered with a 7-2 run that was capped by a layup from Cugini.
The Golden Knights then responded with an 11-0 flurry that gave them a double-digit lead. Forup reduced the deficit to 22-13 with a layup at the 13:54 mark, but Gannon went back up by double-digits for good less than a minute later.
Pitt-Johnstown trailed 63-29 at the break and never quite found enough offensive rhythm to cut into that deficit throughout the final 20 minutes.
Gannon shot 58.1% (50 of 86) from the field for the game, while Pitt-Johnstown finished at 45% (27 of 60).
Pace Prosser provided 24 points, nine assists, five rebounds and five steals for the Golden Knights, who moved to 24-2 (17-1 PSAC).
Pitt-Johnstown will visit Seton Hill for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday in the penultimate game of the season.
