INDIANA, Pa. — Eli Ropietski fired an even-par 142 to claim medalist honors and lift the Pitt-Johnstown men's golf team to a third place finish at the Cecil C. Spadafora IUP Invitational on Tuesday and Wednesday at Indiana Country Club.

The junior shot a 2-under 70 in the first round and an even-par 72 to edge West Chester's Yamato Kimura by one stroke. It marked Ropietski's second-ever outright individual title after he won at the PSAC Men's Golf Championships last October at Iron Valley Golf Club.
Pitt-Johnstown's top five recorded a 29-over par 597. The Mountain Cats shot a 12-over 296 and were tied for second after the opening round before closing the tournament with a 17-over 301. West Chester, which was also tied for second following day one, recorded an 8-over 292 to win the team title by just one stroke over IUP.
Mauricio Hernandez tied three others for ninth at 6-over 148. More than three weeks after winning medalist honors at Pitt-Johnstown's Appalachian Collegiate, David Razinskas shot a 12-over 154 to tie three others for 36th.
Lucas Smith tied two others for 45th at 14-over 156. Giovanni Vezza finished 52nd with a 16-over 158 to round out Pitt-Johnstown's lineup.
Mark Yan, playing as an independent, tied six others for 21st at 9-over 151. Griffin Hansberry, who also played independently, was one stroke behind at 10-over 152 to match three others for 28th.
The Mountain Cats will host the Pitt-Johnstown Bedford Springs Intercollegiate on April 20-21 at Omni Bedford Springs Resort.
