No. 4 Wrestlers Defeat Shippensburg on Senior Night
    02/13/13... (Results) Gary Lantz's (Delta, Pa.) major decision at 174 lbs. broke a 9-9 tie and led the fourth-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers to a 26-9 Senior Night victory over Shippensburg University, Wednesday night in the Sports Center.  Pitt-Johnstown closed out the regular season with 14 straight dual meet wins and a 15-2 overall record.

     Pitt-Johnstown and Shippensburg exchanged decision's to open the match.  Evan Link (Cresson, Pa.) defeated Dereck Enders, 3-1, before the Red Raiders got a 4-1 decision from Cameron Throckmorton over Dave Fogle (Summerhill, Pa.) at 133 lbs.

     A 4-3 decision by seventh-ranked Dave Cawley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) over Cody Myers at 141 lbs., and a 6-0 shutout by Jack Bachman (Greensburg, Pa.) at 149 lbs. put the Mountain Cats back in front 9-3.

     Shippensburg answered with John Lindquist's 7-2 victory over Joel Paolo (Weirton, Pa.) to cut it to 9-6 at the midway point, before Neal Grudi used a late takedown and a stalling point in overtime to defeat Keith Ryan (Shirleysburg, Pa.) at knot it at nine.

     However, Lantz dealt Dylan Treaster a 12-3 major decision loss, and sixth-ranked Travis McKillop (Lower Burrell, Pa.) won by forfeit at 184 lbs. to put Pitt-Johnstown up 19-9 with just two bouts remaining.

     Nikos Garafola (Greensburg, Pa.) sealed the win at 197 lbs. with a 13-2 major decision over Marshall Hobbs,and Josh Duplin (Johnstown, Pa.) closed it out with a 4-2 ultimate tie breaker win over Dan Estricher at 285 lbs.

     With the loss, Shippensburg dropped to 12-7. 

     Prior to the match, Pitt-Johnstown recognized this year's seniors...Glenn Winslow (Patton, Pa.) (133 lbs.), Keith Ryan (Shirleysburg, Pa.) (165 lbs.), and Kevin Ryan (Shirleysburg, Pa.) (184 lbs.).

     The Mountain Cats travel to the Super Region I Tournament at Kutztown University on Feb. 22-23 and to the 2013 NCAA Division II National Tournament in Birmingham, Ala. on March 8-9.
