Post Sweeps Mountain Cats in Florida

Post (NY) University scored an unearned run in the 12th inning to win the opener, 2-1, over the Mountain Cat before completing the doubleheader sweep with a 3-0 victory team iin nightcap, Monday afternoon in Fort Pierce, Fla. Nate Sabados (DuBois, Pa.) had three hits in game one to lead Pitt-Johnstown, now 2-5.
In the opener, Post scored an unearned run in the 12th inning to earn a 2-1 win. Alex Jahn was hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced to third on Kyle Morrow's (McVeytown, Pa.) throwing error. Jahn then scored on Brendan Barry's single through Pitt-Johnstown's drawn in infield.
Sabados went 3-for-5 and Drew Westover (Flinton, Pa.) added two hits in five at-bats. Nick Barbera (Harrisburg, Pa.) drove in the Mountain Cats' lone run with a double.
Alex Naggy (Greensburg, Pa.) got the start and gave up one run on four hits in six innings. Naggy also fanned eight and walked one. Paul Tunink (Indiana, Pa.) suffer the loss after surrendering the unearned run in the 12th inning. Tunink allowed just the one run and scattered three hits in 5.1 innings.
In gamne two, Pitt-Johnstown was held to four hits in the 3-0 loss. Zach Vignero (Johnstown, Pa.), Josh Campanella (Allison, Park, Pa.), Andy Ebersole (Martinsburg, Pa.), and Joe Galbraith (Brookville, Pa.) all had one hit for the Mountain Cats.
Matt Whiteman (North Huntingdon, Pa.) took the loss on the mound after allowing three runs (2 earned) six hits in three innings. Whiteman also struck out two and walked three.
The Mountain Cats continue their spring trip in Fort Pierce, Fla. with a doubleheader against Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. and a nine-inning game against Mercy (NY) College on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Pitt-Johnstown will wrap-up the trip with a doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday at 10 a.m.
