Baseball Sweeps Chestnut Hill, 2-1 and 10-6

After a narrow 2-1 win over Chestnut Hill College in Tuesday's opener in Fort Pierce, Fla., Josh Campanella's (Allison Park, Pa.) three-run triple highlighted a nine-run sixth inning to help the Mountain Cats complete sweep with a 10-6 victory in game two. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 4-5.
In game one, Nick Barbera (Harrisburg, Pa.) had two hits and an RBI, while Kyle Morrow (McVeytown, Pa.), Drew Westover (Flinton, Pa.), and Seth Roy (Bedford, Pa.) all added two hits.
John Fees (Carrolltown, Pa.) earned his first collegiate win after giving up just one run on three hits in six innings of work. Fees also fanned six. Zach Vignero (Johnstown, Pa.) struck out one in a perfect seventh inning to get the save.
In the nightcap, Chestnut Hill built a 6-1 lead after five innings, but the Mountain Cats exploded for nine runs in the sixth to secure the 10-6 win. Campanella had two hits, including the three-run triple in the sixth inning that broke a 6-6 tie. Jeff Campbell (Brackenridge, Pa.) and Westover each doubled, and Jake Warner (Dillsburg, Pa.), Matt Whiteman (North Huntingdon, Pa.), and Vignero all drove in a run.
Mike Violi (Indiana , Pa.) got the win after pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Violi allowed just one hit and struck out two. Kody Reighard (Salix, Pa.) started and surrendered three runs (2 earned) on three hits in three innings.
Following Wednesday's day off, the Mountain Cats wrap-up the trip to Florida with a nine-inning game against Mercy (NY) College on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and a doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday at 10 a.m.
