Baseball Drops Two to WV Wesleyan to Open WVIAC Play

Kyle Morrow (McVeytown, Pa.) homered in both games and drove in five runs, but West Virginia Wesleyan dealt the Mountain Cats 9-3 and 7-3 losses to open the 2012 WVIAC schedule Friday night in Fort Pierce, Fla. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in conference-play.
In the opener, the Bobcats jumped on Mountain Cat starter John Fees (Carrolltown, Pa.) for seven runs in the first three innings to earn the 9-3 victory.
Morrow homered and drove in a pair, while Zach Vignero (Johnstown, Pa.) collected two hits for Pitt-Johnstown.
Fees took the loss and fell to 1-2 after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in three innings.
West Virginia Wesleyan completed the sweep with a 7-3 win in the nightcap.
Morrow hit his second homerun of the day and drove in three more, and Vignero went 3-for-4 to lead the Mountain Cats.
Kody Reighard (Salix, Pa.) surrendered four runs on four hits in three innings to fall to 0-2.
With the sweep, West Virginia Wesleyan improved to 6-8 overall and 2-0 in the WVIAC.
The Mountain Cats return home to host a conference doubleheader against West Virginia State University on Tuesday and a four-game non-conference series against Mercyhurst College on Saturday and Sunday. All three doubleheaders are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Point Stadium.
